At Shaking the Tree, we have a multi-disciplinary team in place to manage the operations of our organization and to serve as the Creative Team. Their insight and experience from a variety of areas enables STT to consistently deliver a high level of professionalism to all projects and events.
In addition to our Co-Founders, Paul McKibbin and David Kersner, both Maryann Fernandez and Edward Monte have played key roles in the development of our library of plays. |

Maryann has servedas executive producer for our theatrical pieces, oversees the production of events and is part of the Creative Team that drives the continued development of Root Connection and the Indaba gatherings.
Previously, Maryann worked as an independent consultant focusing on the design and management of educational events for wealthy families, family businesses and their advisors. Clients include financial services firms, industry associations and family offices. She also consults with organizations on enhancing their marketing, client service and business development initiatives through strategic event planning. Maryann most recently helped to establish a private peer network of ultra-affluent philanthropists which included 150 families. Her primary responsibilities included program development, recruitment of new families through institutional partnerships, and marketing. During her tenure, this philanthropist network has run four major events reaching over 160 families and featuring prominent speakers including Nobel Peace Laureate Elie Wiesel, Dr. Vartan Gregorian, The Carnegie Corporation, Dr. Jeffrey Sachs, The Earth Institute, Queen Noor, Fareed Zakaria, Newsweek, Larry Brilliant, Google.org and Bill Moyers.

Edward is co-founder of Family Solutions Group, L.L.C., an interdisciplinary firm providing consulting and advisory services to high net worth families, single and multifamily offices, family businesses and their advisors. His specialty is in parent-adult child relationship issues that impact family businesses and family offices. A particular focus in his consulting, research and writing is the complex dynamics between fathers and sons in business together. In addition, Dr. Monte consults to legal and financial advisors concerning the unique issues they encounter working with high net worth families as well as the more general human side issues advisors must attend to in their work with any individual. Dr. Monte is a member of the Family Firm Institute, on faculty in the Next Generation Leadership Institute of the Family Business Center at Loyola University of Chicago and regularly presents in business schools, accounting and consulting firms nationally. Also, as a third generation son in a fourth generation family business, Dr. Monte brings a unique perspective to his consulting practice, writing and teaching. |
